The dawn of the new year, symbolizes a start of something new — the start of another chapter in the stories of our lives.  The year 2011 may have ended with so many tragic events but it does not mean that we cannot start anew.

Goodbye 2011:

This year for me contained a lot of negative vibes but I survived. It’s a good thing that I am surrounded by people who exudes good vibes. All the negativity seemed to have been outweighed by all the positive things that came rushing.

The major negative things that happened to me this year includes a lot of emotional drama. One is the undying conflict that I have with my maternal grandmother. This conflict makes me cry most of the time and she is the actual reason why I don’t like coming home. She makes home hell – ask my childhood friends and my cousins they know what I meant.

Another bad thing is the constant financial instability that I had in the past few months. I call this year the broke year. I have so many things to spend on but I don’t have enough. I have a lot to pay for the coming year. Hopefully, I’d be able to pay all of them before the Chinese New Year comes!

Despite the negative vibes that came to me this year, there are still positive things that happened. One major achievement that I have this year is gaining one point in self-confidence. I have stood up quite a bit. I’m getting more and more and more open to the world outside the four corners of my boring life.

Another achievement that I have this year is connected to the first one. Together with self-confidence, I have also gained one point in fashion. I have updated my closet quite a bit and I’m planning to level this up by next year.

Late this year, I also went back to blogging. Now, I currently have more than 1900 views in three months. It’s quite an achievement for an amateur blogger like me. A few of my posts were also placed in other blogs’ related articles or posts.

Hello 2012!

With all the things that has happened in 2011, I am hoping that 2012 would be a better and brighter year for me.

There are so many things that I am looking forward to this year:

On March 2012, I will be graduating from college. All the sweat, tears and blood in the past five years will now be contained in a small piece of paper called DIPLOMA. I will be officially a degree holder!

Another thing that makes this graduation exciting is that for the first time since kindergarten, my Dad will be coming home and celebrate this day with us!

When I was in kindergarten I was always excited with grade school. When I was in grade school, I was excited about high school. When I was in high school I was excited with college. Now that I am in college, I am excited to work. Working seems to be another adventure. A very big adventure which would entitle me total independence – at last!

Despite the fact that I am involved in theater activities, I still consider myself a wallflower. Later this year though, I am slowly showing confidence on myself. I’m slowly stepping up and show myself to the rest of the world.

In conclusion:

Despite the tragedies that happened, we must not think that life is over. The start of the brand new year, is a start of a new beginning. It is a metaphor that goes with the saying ‘life goes on’.

Let us all celebrate the start of a brand new year. Let us all start anew and make ourselves and lives better.
